When the Mughals first came to India they were drawn by the lure of her fabulous wealth - India was known as the "Sone Ki Chidiya," literally - "The Golden Bird." (echoes of the Golden Goose ...!)
Even today, many come to India seeking fabulous gems and exquisite jewellery that this country is famous for. Jaipur and Udaipur are well known as centres of quality gemstones and jewellery. People from the world over come to these cities in search of that glitter that dazzles the most jaded eye. Unfortunately, all that glitters ...!
To eliminate the uncertainty and the you-never-know-what-you're- getting feeling, we have a gemologist from the US who accompanies the group. She will be assisted by a local person who also has a fair idea of prices and quality. We deal only with reputable establishments or persons and generally try to minimize the risks associated with buying articles of high value.
Here's a tour scheduled for this autumn - while the emphasis is on providing a safe shopping experience, there's lots more to do on this tour than simply shop till you drop. There's stays at charming palaces and havelis, escorted sightseeing with knowledgeable guides, folk music and traditional revelry, golf for your travel companions, even a horse safari for those so inclined. The idea is to provide a leisurely experience of some of the best India has to offer, with people you can trust. |
